SUMMARY:EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN (EMT) - HYBRID
DESCRIPTION:According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics\, job
opportunities for Emergency Medical Technicians and paramedics have been i
ncreasing steadily since 2002\, and employment for these positions is expec
ted to grow at the same rate as other industries through 2031.  Job prospe
cts are predicted to be good.\nEmployment of EMTs and paramedics is expecte
d to grow by 7 percent between 2021 and 2031\, which is average for all occ
upations.  Full-time paid EMTs and paramedics will be needed to replace un
paid volunteers\, as it is becoming increasingly difficult for emergency me
dical services to recruit and retain unpaid volunteers. As a result\, more
paid EMTs and paramedics will be needed. Furthermore\, as the large baby bo
om generation ages and becomes more likely to have medical emergencies\, de
mand will increase for EMTs and paramedics. The Bureau of Labor Statistics
also predicts continued demand for part-time\, volunteer EMTs and paramedic
s in rural areas and smaller metropolitan areas.\n\n\nWhat do EMTs earn?\n\
n\nAn EMT’s pay depends on several factors\, including the geographical a
rea in which they work\, the agency through which they work\, whether they
are employed in the private or public sector\, their level of experience\,
and what level of training they’ve received.\nAccording to statistics fur
nished by the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics\, EMTs can expect to
  make between $30\,000 – $55\,000 yearly + overtime and benefits\, depend
ing on these and other factors.  The median salary for EMT’s and Paramed
 ics for 2021 was $36\,930.
