DESCRIPTION:NAEMT's Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) is recognized a
 round the world as the leading continuing education program for prehospital
  emergency trauma care. The mission of PHTLS is to promote excellence i
 n trauma patient management by all providers involved in the delivery of pr
 ehospital care. PHTLS is developed by NAEMT in cooperation with the Ameri
 can College of Surgeons' Committee on Trauma. The Committee provides the me
 dical direction and content oversight for the PHTLS program. \nPHTLS cours
 es improve the quality of trauma care and decrease mortality. The program i
 s based on a philosophy stressing the treatment of the multi-system trauma 
 patient as a unique entity with specific needs. PHTLS promotes critical thi
 nking as the foundation for providing quality care. It is based on the beli
 ef that\, given a good fund of knowledge and key principles\, EMS practitio
 ners are capable of making reasoned decisions regarding patient care.\nThe
  course utilizes the internationally recognized PHTLS textbook and covers t
 he following topics:\n\nPhysiology of life and death\nScene assessment\nPat
 ient assessment\nHemorrhage control\nAirway\nBreathing\, ventilation\, and 
 oxygenation\nCirculation and shock\nSpecial populations\n\nThe course empha
 sizes application of trauma education through case studies\, skills practic
 e\, and patient simulations.\nPHTLS is the global gold standard in prehospi
 tal trauma education and is taught in over 80 countries. PHTLS is appropria
 te for EMTs\, paramedics\, nurses\, physician assistants\, physicians\, and
  other prehospital practitioners. PHTLS is accredited by CAPCE and recogniz
 ed by NREMT.\nThis is a 1 day Skills course.  All classroom material is to
  be done online prior to the course date of 9/19/26 from 8a – 5p.
